Acacia Hospice has an exciting new opportunity for a Hospice Administrator! Acacia is part of the Masonic Village at Burlington family, a non-for-profit community that has a history of over 120 years. 

Acacia Hospice of New Jersey provides in-home care to persons residing in Burlington, Camden and Mercer counties as well as assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities and hospitals.

The Hospice Administrator will be providing overall management of clinical, regulatory, administrative and financial direction of the agency and will assume final responsibility for all activities and team development. 

 

Knowledge/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in administration or a health-related field
  • 5 years experience working in hospice preferred
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New Jersey preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or administrative experience in a hospice or home care setting preferred
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Planning and budgeting skills preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement preferred.

 

Essential Functions/Professional Competencies

  • Demonstrates current knowledge of Hospice, OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations including OBRA; demonstrates the ability to apply and enforce them in the Hospice Program.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Hospice services, philosophy and trends in end-of-life/palliative care support to patients and their families. Leads the hospice team in role-modeling the company's expectation of superior services that sets aside the hospice agency from others.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assure that the Hospice Program, and Clinical/Professional team are maintaining and improving outcomes of the hospice patients. Assists in the planning and development of education, policies and procedures, and other necessary action plans in order to promote clinical excellence.
  • Contributes positively to an organization wide comprehensive planning process annually and ongoing that contains achievable objectives connected to appropriate goals which relate to the purpose of the Hospice Program as guided by the vision and mission of the company.
  • Assures department compliance with Hospice, OBRA and other regulatory and/or accrediting bodies. Prepares and implements plans of correction as needed.
  • Assures the preparation of financial budgets for all areas of responsibility. Remains accountable for the operational and financial performance of the Hospice as described above.
  • Facilitates communication with and appropriately involves the Professional Advisory Committee.
  • Serves in a leadership role regarding quality through role modeling, positive behavior, requiring the presence of quality monitors and developing standards of care.
  • Assures appropriate degree of presence and involvement on campus especially within specific areas of responsibility to demonstrate support of all customers and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Personally provides and assures praise and recognition is provided to team members. Assures timely performance appraisals of all direct reports.
  • Guides the implementation of creative staffing and scheduling practices that assure adequate, quality staffing.
  • Supports organizational Safety & Risk Management practices especially with the reviewing of trended information for patient and team member incidents and accidents. Assures reporting to the Department of Health of all reportable events.
  • Provides and assures timely and appropriate communication with team members. Meets directly with staff and management as needed and utilizes appropriate communication techniques.
  • Identifies, implements and oversees the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Program.
  • Encourages collaboration between and among departments and resident/patient care units.
